One of the most popular bathing spots in Rishikesh, Triveni ghat is the confluence of three holy rivers- Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. However, the ghat lies by river Ganges. During the aarti, the priests hold a huge lamp containing several oil-lit diyas and rotate their hands in circular motion, worshipping the River. This action is accompanied by bells, beating drums, and chanting of bhajans. In the end, diyas (earthen lamps) are kept on flower-filled leaf boats and are released into the holy waters.
